Guy Lumumba's Visit Featured in the Denver Post

Bruce Finley wrote an article about Guy Lumumba's visit to Denver for the Denver Post. He highlighted Lumumba's call for Americans to get involved in the Congo.

From the article:

"I didn't go to China. I didn't go to Russia. I came here to America to renew contact and the good relations we've always looked for with American citizens. . . . Maybe America's youth can tell their Congress to help put a stop to the violence."

About 200 people showed up at DU to hear Mr. Lumumba speak about his father's legacy as the first democratically elected Prime Minister of the DRC.

Dean of DU's Korbel School of International Studies Tom Farer was quoted in the article, referring to US complicity in the assassination of Guy's father, Patrice Lumumba:

"We were up to our armpits in the blood of Lumumba. We wanted him out. And here's his son, despite that," said Tom Farer, dean of DU's Korbel School of International Studies. "We have an incredible obligation to that country."
