K'naan at the Ogden, Nov. 29th
Okay, so the show isn't for a few weeks, but this is one show we were too excited about not to mention. K'naan is one of the most gifted artists we've heard in a while, so get your tickets now.
Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, K'naan moved to New York with his family in 1991 before eventually settling in Toronto, Canada. Critics have said K'naan has "a sound that fuses Bob Marley, conscious American hip hop, and brilliant protest poetry."
On this current tour, K'naan is opening for reggae artist Matisyahu, himself a gifted and conscious musician and lyricist. On his past tour K'naan opened for the Marley Brothers, Stephen and Ziggy. We think K'naan is a big enough talent to be headlining his own tours, but unfortunately he hasn't gotten enough exposure for that....yet.
With his new album, Troubadour, due out in January of 2009, the new year might mark K'naan's chance to break through to a broader market.
Tickets for K'naan and Matisyahu at the Ogden are on sale now fro $25. Click here for tickets.
