Sudanese Lost Girl Micklina Peter Kenyi Speaks to the Rocky Mountain News

Micklina Peter Kenyi came to Colorado in 2004 from the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. She spoke to the Rocky Mountain News about her life in Sudan, in the refugee camp, and about the difficulties and opportunities coming to Colorado has presented.

Even worse was the sense of isolation. Of being in her apartment, a lonely island in a sea of strangers. In Sudan, "everybody knows your neighbors. You eat together, you share a lot. Your neighbors are like your clothes. If you don't know them, you are naked."
Ms. Kenyi is also a friend of Susan Moi, a Sudanese woman who was severly injured in the recent apartment fire in Boulder.
